Dr. Sander Florman (Sandy) will discuss the “ins and outs” of organ transplantation in ways that everyone can understand. Some questions we will have for him will include how his program and the hospital in New Orleans rebuilt in the aftermath of Katrina, the ethics of who gets a transplant, and what life is like for the patient after a transplant. Get your questions ready!
Sandy is the director of Mount Sinai Recanati/Miller Transplantation Institute in New York City. The institute is one of only 14 transplantation research institutes. Dr. Florman is well known in the national and international transplant community. He grew up in Louisville graduated from St. Francis High School and from the University of Louisville Medical School.
William Porter, Studio Chief Designer for General Motors for over three decades is the recipient of numerous awards. Currently retired, he continues to influence automotive design by lecturing at Universities and Colleges on the history of automobile design. He is most known for the 1968 Pontiac GTO, 1970-1973 Firebird and Trans Am and 1995 Buick Riveria. However through the 60s to the 90s there were not many Pontiac or Buick cars that did not have Porter’s design on them. He grew up in Louisville, attended Children’s Free Art Classes and graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Fine Arts.
