Kentucky to the World Staff and Consultants

All are part time paid staff or consultants, and each one donates to Kentucky to the World in various ways – with financial contributions, volunteering their time, or donating in-kind goods and services.

Lisa SwikertAdministrative Manager
Lisa Swikert
Lisa coordinates and performs a variety of functions for the office, including submissions for advertising, event details, correspondence, board meetings, electronic communications and more. She holds a BFA from Western Kentucky University and has over 30 years’ experience in event planning, office management and graphic design.

Taylor CochranCreative Consultant
Taylor Cochran
As an independent consultant Taylor specializes in social media management and content production. Previously with Doe Anderson, her clients included Maker’s Mark, Carrier, Bluegrass Cellular and The Galt House; she now enjoys contract and freelance work. A Louisville native, Taylor earned a BA in Communication from Bellarmine University.

Jayne LabesDevelopment Consultant
Jayne Labes
With 27 years of nonprofit development and communications experience, Jayne began consulting in 2002. Other clients include New Hope Services, Supplies Over Seas, WaterStep, Hearts4Kenya, Louisville Visual Art, and The Healing Place. She holds a BS from the University of Kentucky and is a past president of the Fund Raising Executives of Metro Louisville.

David ThurmondEducation and Strategy Consultant
David Thurmond
David has served as Deputy Secretary of the Kentucky Education Arts and Humanities Cabinet, as well as Director of Strategic Planning and Government Relations for the Department of Education.  At the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, he served as Director of Statewide Education and Vice President for Programming. He is also founding Director of the Governor’s School for the Arts. A graduate of Bellarmine University, he holds a MEd degree from the University of Louisville; he is also a graduate of Leadership Louisville and the Bingham Fellows.

Melissa ZoellerPublic Relations and Marketing Consultant
Melissa Zoeller
Melissa has 20 years of experience in communications, marketing and public relations. Other clients include GE, LG&E, J Michael’s Spa & Salon, Wingspan Integrated Marketing and St. Raphael the Archangel School. She currently serves on the Bellarmine University Alumni Board of Directors and is President of the St. Raphael Parent-Teacher Organization.

August NorthcutSocial Media Coordinator and Database Manager
August Northcut
A talented painter and illustrator, August spent several years in the arts communities of Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA before returning to Louisville. He is experienced as a gallery artist, freelancer and curator. Outside of his own studio, August provides freelance illustration, curation, and event planning support for a variety of local clients.  

Tommy JohnsVideo Producer and Director
Tommy Johns
Tommy is a digital media producer and content strategist. He works in video direction and production as well as motion design, photography, and graphic design. He has written, directed, and produced digital media assets for a variety of major brands, restaurant groups, and prosocial non-profit organizations and provided brand health and network development guidance for consumer engagement strategies.

Ekaterina Balaban
Kat is an Information Technology professional with over 15 years of experience in network infrastructure, Web development, technology integration, and more. Currently a Web developer for UPS Airlines, she also likes to assist area nonprofits and volunteer for animal welfare causes.
