In Memory of Sarah Yates

Sarah Yates, highly valued Creative Consultant for Kentucky to the World, passed away April 12, 2017, after a long illness. She will be greatly missed – for the delightful person she was and for her remarkable creative genius. She was a force with her strategic thinking, writing, and planning for the future of KTW.

Mary Yates, left. Sarah Yates, right.

Sarah had been the primary story writer for the Louisville design firm Solid Light for a number of years. One of her unique abilities was to capture the essence of a project in the written word in the most compelling ways. Her award-winning words are on the walls of local museums like Frazier History Museum, The Carnegie in New Albany, and the McConnell Center at U of L. She wrote most of the words for the Evan Williams Experience and other bourbon visitor centers. She was a former director of Louisville Visual Art and also taught at IU Southeast. Sarah was an artist and jewelry designer.

For donations in Sarah’s memory, the family has suggested Kentucky to the World and the Shamrock Foundation, two causes Sarah was passionate about. If you would like to make a gift to KTW, please click on the link below. You can also add your comments and condolences as you make your gift.

Sarah was especially interested in the development of the KTW Student Program. For that reason, we will designate funds donated in her name to that program.
