TINASHE
Singer, actress, notable role on Two and a Half Men
A creative force who has become a leading voice in entertainment, Tinashe has built a career in music and acting.
Born in Lexington, Kentucky, both of her parents were professors at the University of Kentucky. After she turned eight, her family decided to relocate to Los Angeles to pursue other professorial positions. This move would prove beneficial for young Tinashe, who would begin to take advantage of the acting, dancing and musical resources that were immediately available.
In the early 2000s, she starred in a number of roles for children’s television and film. As a voice actor, she appeared in Rocket Power and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Because of her work in this space, she eventually landed a frequent guest spot on Two and a Half Men between 2008 and 2009.
At the same time that she was finding acting work, she was also beginning to explore her musical options. In 2007, she joined the group The Stunners, which experienced a run of success on the charts and was regularly featured on MTV. After departing from the group in 2010, she started her career as a solo artist.
Determined to keep producing music, she developed a dedicated following, and by 2012, she was signed by RCA. Since then, she’s been responsible for chart-performing songs, commercially successful albums, and collaborations with industry juggernauts including ASAP Rocky, Maroon 5, Young Thug, Iggy Azalea and Travis Scott.
