TONY MOORE
The Walking Dead & Fear Agent comic book artist
As a multimedia artist and illustrator, Tony Moore has channeled his experiences in Kentucky to create comic book series that have cultivated an international audience.
Born in Cynthiana, Kentucky, Moore developed a taste for horror and science fiction from an early age. Immersing himself in both low-budget films and comic books, he would apply this interest into a unique illustration style that he would develop over the course of his career. From childhood, he developed these passions with this friend Robert Kirkman.
With Kirkman, Moore would create some of the pieces he has since been best known for. Starting with Battle Pope in 2000, the two would collaborate in a number of capacities. As the original illustrator for The Walking Dead along with Kirkman as the lead writer, the two would find unprecedented success after their series reached the shelves. After winning awards for his art in the series, enthusiasm for the comics would explode. AMC would adapt the series into an award-winning show, and the series would be syndicated across the planet.
Since his work on The Walking Dead, he has created Fear Agent and The Exterminators and has contributed art for Ghost Rider and Punisher. Importantly, Fear Agent has recently been adapted into a new show created by Seth Rogen, Matt Tolmach and David F. Sandberg. For his art production, he has been nominated for the Eisner Award, one of the most prestigious awards in the comic book and graphic novel field. He still lives in Kentucky and regularly provides album art for country music artist Tyler Childers.
Tony Moore was Kentucky to the World’s Featured Speaker in October, 2019, where he had a conversation with University of Louisville Professor Joe Turner.
