PAT DAY
Hall of Fame jockey, winner of 9 Triple Crown races
Pat Day is one of the most celebrated jockeys in sports history.
Although he was born and raised in Brush, Colorado, he made a name for himself on horse racing tracks in Kentucky. In a career that would feature the 1992 Kentucky Derby victory with Lil E. Tee, he would also go on to win 9 Triple Crown races. Indeed, even though he retired in 2005, he still maintains major records at both Keeneland and Churchill Downs. After his retirement, he ranked fourth all-time in total wins and was recognized as the top-earning jockey in horse racing history.
He continues to operate Race for Grace, an annual chaplaincy fundraiser at Churchill Downs.
