Multi-Platinum Music Mogul Finis “KY” White
Hip-hop, as a genre, has faced constant adversity since it began breaking through to the mainstream. Hip-hop sound engineer and Kentucky native, Finis ‘KY’ White, can certainly say the same for his own life. His story is one of perseverance, with few models of success or music industry resources where he grew up, White still managed to turn homelessness and hopelessness into a multi-platinum career mixing and engineering records for the likes of Drake, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj just to name a few. Known these days in Atlanta as “the engineer from Kentucky,” or KY for short, White opened Bass Recording Studios in 2016. Since then, he has continued to book top-tier talent, garnered lucrative endorsement deals and, most importantly, he has continued to inspire young entrepreneurs with his motto, #HardWorkPaysOff.
White will be led in conversation by WFPK radio personality and host of The Guestlist, Sean Cannon. Like White, Cannon grew up in an impoverished community in Eastern Kentucky, but found both solace and direction in life through his love of music.
Join us on Wednesday, July 30th for a journey from the bed of a pickup truck to the top of the charts with Finis ‘KY’ White.
