SEAN CANNON

Wandering out of the foothills of the Appalachians, Sean Cannon got his start in the music world thanks to the web. Over the years, he’s written plenty of headlines — and made a few of his own — while at the helm of Buzzgrinder.com. He also helped build AOL’s Noisecreep.com into the largest heavy music site on the internet.

From there, Sean transitioned into a job with Louisville Public Media becoming a familiar voice and figure in the local music scene. He anchored the weeknight program “After Dark” for more than five years, utilizing social media and an eccentric mix of youthful, underground hits to draw a new generation of of younger listeners to public radio. Cannon’s combination of digital savvy and knack for playlist curation eventually led to a position as WFPL’s senior digital strategist. Transitioning into this new role and away from being on-air five nights a week freed up time for Cannon to develop and produce his immensely successful podcast, The Guestlist, which is currently syndicated in a handful of markets outside of Louisville and has hosted over 70 well known names to date.

Cannon has also spent plenty of time as a show promoter,  newspaper man, graphic designer, food eater, husband and avid audience member. He recently accepted a position as the senior digital content manager for discogs.com, where he can bring his unique blend of storytelling and attention grabbing to an impressive 50 million + worldwide, unique page visitors every week.
